If you’re considering a family LDS vacation like an LDS cruise, your planning should start well in advance. A cruise is a vacation type that requires some detail in the planning stages, and you need to be prepared for this.

At Cruise Lady, we have numerous LDS cruise options as well as staff here to help with your preparations. In part one of our two-part series on cruise planning, we’ll go over some of the initial stages you should complete when you’re laying out plans for your cruise.

Immediately After Booking

The first step directly after booking a cruise vacation is to obtain and save copies of your confirmations. These might be either online or in paper form – keep copies of both if you’re concerned about losing either.

In addition, keep detailed records of any deposits or vacation payments you’ve made. If you’ve used a payment plan, ask for confirmation from your agent when you’ve paid it off. Also ask about any important deadlines that might apply to you, including final payment due dates, digital check-in options, and cancellation deadlines.

Three Months Prior to Cruise

When you get to three months ahead of your cruise date, you should be laying out important dates or any deadlines that are approaching. You should confirm that all transportation before or after the cruise itself is locked down, along with any lodging needs you’ll have during nights that aren’t covered by the cruise. Make sure you’re on top of all payments.

Proper Documentation

This is also a period of time where you should be obtaining all the proper documentation for your travel. You’ll almost certainly need a passport here, and it’s usually good to have multiple forms of legal identification. Never, ever assume a form of identification will be accepted if you aren’t sure – instead, ask one of our experts in advance. If you need to apply for certain forms of documentation, give yourself plenty of time for processing and mailing of documents.
