Shore Excursions
Once the largest Maya ceremonial site in Belize, Lamanai definitely has a name very similar to names in the Book of Mormon. We will board speedboats that will take us on a 45-minute picturesque journey on the New River. Our guides will point out wildlife along the river. At the site we will visit three different Mayan Temples. Here your guide will instruct you on the culture, rites, and archaeology of the Maya people. You might even get a chance to see howler monkeys climbing in the trees.

The Tulum ruins overlook the ocean and it is one of the most picturesque sites of the Yucatan. Here a local LDS guide will teach us about the site and its relationship to the Book of Mormon peoples.

It is a quick one hour drive to the impressive archeological site of Chacchoben while our guides teach us about the history and culture of the Mayan civilization. As we arrive at the site, we will see that the walkway to the main temple area is lined with beautiful trees and tropical vegetation. The first human settlements in the area of Chacchoben have been dated to as early as 1000BC. Evidence collected during the excavations shows that most of the restored structures were built around the years of 300-360AD and were modified up to five times during the occupation period. Seeing these breath-taking ruins in this dense jungle is an unforgettable experience you will not want to miss.
This tour takes us around the island to savor the beauty and diversified reality of Roatan. Our journey begins as we board mini buses for a scenic ride through the countryside. We will pass several villages while our local guides tell us about their beautiful country. Our first stop will be at an iguana farm. Hundreds of iguanas are raised and protected here for lucky tourists to see.
We will continue on our circle tour to a sandy beach in a fun little village for a couple of hours of relaxing, swimming, or snorkeling. Snorkel gear is available to rent or even better, bring your own gear! Beach chairs are also available to rent on the beach. We will be in a village at the beach so if swimming isn’t of interest then we can get a massage on the beach from a local, explore the shops in the village, or check out a choice of restaurants if we want to taste some local cuisine.
Looking for an “Extreme Adventure” that is 100% pure adrenaline? This tour really delivers! Our first stop after a scenic journey through the countryside and small villages will be the Roatan Jungle Canopy where we will ride zip-lines through the jungle. After an hour of jungle fun and lots of laughter, we will head to the beach where we will join the group from the other tour for some relaxing time on the beach. Snorkel gear is available to rent (or bring your own) if you want to explore the reef there. Our van will drop us off at the pier where we will have plenty of time for shopping at the local shops before boarding the ship. This is one very exciting tour so wear stronger shoes than flip flops, and bring cameras and a good dose of courage!
All shore excursions are optional and may be purchased separately from the cruise rate.
