McLean is a storyteller, songwriter, filmmaker, playwright, and sought after speaker. Some of his film credits include: Together Forever, The Prodigal Son, and Mr. Krueger’s Christmas starring Jimmy Stewart and Nora’s Christmas Gift starring Celeste Holm.
His Forgotten Carols musical has become a Christmas tradition since 1991 selling over 3/4 of a million tickets. His other musicals include Celebrating the Light, The Garden (an allegorical oratorio written with Bryce Neubert and orchestrated by Merrill Jenson), The Ark (written with Kevin Kelly and premiering Off Broadway 2005) and Threads (Featuring McKenzie Turley)
He has written and produced more than 30 albums including a song collection he co-wrote with John Batdorf to help recovering addicts (Soundtrax 2 Recovery. www.2Recovery.org) and he is the author of books with accompanying soundtracks: Distant Serenade, Hold on the Light Will Come: And Other Lessons My Songs Have Taught Me, From God’s Arms to My Arms to Yours, Mission to be Happy, The Forgotten Carols, and Fairy Tale Christmas (also in development as a musical).
McLean and his wife Lynne have three children and live in the Heber Valley, Utah.
