Learn About LDS Travel at Cruise Lady Lecture Series
You know Cruise Lady as the No. 1 source of LDS travel in Utah, including Mormon cruises, but did you know Cruise Lady also hosts a lecture series featuring the scholars who travel with tourists on our LDS trips? Whether you’re considering a Mormon vacation with Cruise Lady or you’ve already taken a vacation with us and loved it, attending our lecture series is a great way to get more information about the history of LDS and to taste a little of the flavor of our Mormon vacations.
What Is LDS Travel?
If you have never traveled with Cruise Lady before, you are in for a treat! For more than 20 years, we have been organizing some of the most amazing LDS trips to the Holy Land, as well as many other locations across the globe.
What makes LDS travel LDS travel is not just the location (often the Middle East), but also Cruise Lady’s addition of an LDS scholar to each trip. The scholars who travel with groups on Cruise Lady tours make each trip unforgettable. Traveling with an LDS scholar is like having your own private tour guide 24/7. Except the experience is much more valuable than that.
Ordinary tour guides, depending on the type of tour they’re giving and the location, are not always the most amazingly dynamic and well-prepared individuals you will find. In fact, they are often college students who have taken the job because it’s an easy summer gig.
On Cruise Lady’s LDS tours, our accompanying scholars are learned and experienced leaders and teachers in the Mormon faith. They provide unparalleled enhancement on each tour, delivering the kind of interpretation you can’t get anywhere else. Additionally, these scholars are available to answer questions not just during the tours, but afterward as well, on the cruise ship or at the hotel.
This is invaluable, because you invariably think of a question long after a tour is over, and when you’re traveling with an LDS scholar, you get the opportunity to ask it whenever you think of it! Plus, even if you don’t have any questions, you have the option of sitting and listening in to their discussions with others, which are often both enlightening and eye-opening.
If you have been on an LDS trip with Cruise Lady, you know exactly what we mean. And if you haven’t, you can come to our lecture series and get a taste of what LDS Israel vacations with Cruise Lady are all about.
LDS Scholar Lecture Series
Cruise Lady holds our lectures with our LDS scholars at the Jordan Event Center in West Jordan, right behind the Cruise Lady office. These lectures are very popular, so reservations are required to save your seat. Call 801-453-9444 or 888-707-4386. Tickets are $5 each or $40 for 10. Lectures are held from 7 to 9 p.m., and some scholars are available afterward to sign copies of their books.
Lecturer Dr. Robert Millet
Today, we’re featuring one of our upcoming scholar lecturers, Dr. Robert Millet, a Brigham Young University scholar specializing in learning about other religions and their relationship to the LDS church. He has published more than 70 books and 200 articles on LDS historical topics and how they relate to other religions.
Today, Dr. Millet is professor emeritus of ancient scripture at BYU, having previously served as chair of the department and dean of religious education. At the beginning of his career, he worked as an LDS counselor and taught at the seminary.
Dr. Millet is absolutely a student of life, continuing to learn valuable lessons from books, but also from the people he meets in his travels. While he has met and talked with many important, learned people, Dr. Millet always strives to include everyone into conversations, dialogues and discourses of all kinds. We all have something to contribute and we all can learn something from others.
At the same time, Cruise Lady is lucky to have someone with such a long and storied background in LDS history to accompany our guests on their LDS trips. Dr. Millet brings deep knowledge, perspective and interpretation that tremendously enhance an LDS vacation.

The next day we go to the John Johnson Farm in Hiram, Ohio, followed by visits to many important sites in Kirtland, Ohio. We then fly from Cleveland to Kansas City, Missouri, to visit Independence and Liberty Jail. We stop in the valley of Adam-ondi-Ahman in Far West before traveling to our final stop, Nauvoo, Illinois, where we’ll see Brigham Young’s home, Nauvoo Temple and the Carthage Jail.
