HEADLINERS: Maclane Heward |

Maclane Heward is a unique combination of soccer coach, LDS Institute teacher and religious historian. He grew up in Orem with fond memories of orchards and mountain biking during the summers and wiring houses with his electrician dad during the winters. He graduated from Timpanogos High School and served a mission to Mississippi. He and his wife Maria were married in 2006. After earning his bachelor’s degree from BYU and being hired as a Seminary and Institute Teacher, he earned his master’s degree in Religious Education from BYU and his PhD from Claremont Graduate University in North American Religious History. He taught at BYU from 2017 to 2019 and currently teaches at the Utah Valley Institute of Religion adjacent to Utah Valley University. Maclane is passionate about Church history and feels that our history has enough inspiration to last a lifetime and beyond. Maria and Maclane have 5 children and live in Cedar Hills.
